Main Street Cafe: Real, Comfortable Brunch

A reader wrote in a few months back saying "You've gotta check out the Main Street Cafe in Spencer as the food and the atmosphere is great." Sometimes I am skeptical when people write in with suggestions, is it the owner of the restaurant writing in? But the person who wrote in was a manager at another restaurant in Ithaca, so I knew I had to get over there and try it. I am very glad I did. The Main Street Cafe in Spencer serves up a real tasty brunch using local ingredients and local eggs and provides patrons with the most comfortable booths (see photo below) in a relaxed and welcoming setting.



The Food: 4 out of 5
  • Omelet - highly recommended, the first bite told me it was made by a chef, the other bites left me thinking I wished my omelets at home were as good; full of flavor, light and fluffy with large chunks of sausage and a generous amount of goat cheese and fresh vegetables.
  • Quiche du Jour: this joyful egg and cheese dish is fluffy, no hard crust on this Quiche, everything is soft and wonderful; ours had large chunks of ham throughout. A great deal as it comes with a soup or salad with a fantastic balsamic dressing.
  • Honey Garlic Salmon is the big hitter on the menu with a local honey sauce that compliments the delicately grilled salmon.

    The Experience: 5 out of 5
  • It is all about the Booths: they are large and accommodating and fit a body perfectly, they feel more like a couch then a booth. Our 3yr old loved the room to roam in the booth.
  • Relaxed environment with a no-rush feel, they want you to enjoy your visit; warm gas fireplace, large picture windows, and an original native chestnut wood ceiling bring the room to life.
  • Mimosas, Bloody Mary's and Champagne make Brunch even more relaxing.
  • Girls Night Out: one Thursday night a month is girls night with live music.

    The Price: $$$ out of 5
  • Brunch prices are reasonable, most items are $6 to $8, seafood dishes are $15-$18.
